Breast augmentation is presently the most commonly requested surgery in the United States.
The purpose of this prodedure is to enlarge the breast size or to enlarge asymmetric
breasts in order to achieve a relatively equal size.
|
Breast augmentation is an outpatient procedure that is usually performed under a general
anesthesia. An incision is made either under the breast fold, or around the nipple after which
the augmentation is achieved by the placement of a prosthetic implant in a pocket created behind
the breast. The saline filled implant with a silicone shell will enlarge the breast to the desired
size. The introduction of saline filled implants allows for a smaller incision, often less than
one inch underneath the breast and above the crease where it is well hidden.

Breast reduction surgery is performed to correct breasts that are too large, saggy
or have become cumbersome over time.
Also known as reduction mammaplasty, this procedure is the second most
frequently requested cosmetic breast surgery. Often performed to correct postural
problems, shoulder grooving and back pain, breast reduction surgery is also used
to reshape the breasts. This can result in the breasts becoming more proprtionate
to the remainder of the body, considering the particular height and weight of the
patient.
|
Breast reduction is achieved by the surgical removal of excess skin and breast
tissue, through several incisions around the lower portions of the breast, under
the breast fold and around the nipple.

Breast lift surgery, also known as Mastopexy, elevates breasts that have become
loose, saggy or flattened over time.
This procedure recontours the breasts and is achieved by the surgical
removal of excess skin, through several incisions around the lower portions of
the breasts, under the breast fold and around the nipple.
